As a leader in disaster recovery and data backup services, including software and hardware solutions, it’s safe to say that the team with Arcserve knows their business. Because of this, their latest line of UDP (Unified Data Protection) 7000 Appliances are already attracting attention around the industry.
Touted as an all-in-one, comprehensive disaster recovery solution that is meant specifically for small and medium-sized businesses, Arcserve’s UDP 7000 line of backup appliances utilizes a combination of SATA, SAS and SSD-based data storage in order to ensure efficiency and resiliency within today's systems.
A total of five different models of the Arcserve UDP 7000 Appliance are available, each of which is capable of supporting anywhere from 1 TB to 26 TB of source data. As such, the device is easily inserted into a company’s existing infrastructure. Moreover, with the streamlined UDP wizard, even those who are new to the Arcserve UDP family can be up and running within 15 minutes.
The Arcserve UDP 7000 offers a variety of long- and short-term protection options for your data, including secure encryption, file compression, WAN-optimized replication and global deduplication. Moreover, with the ability to automatically replicate data to a variety of sources, including public or private clouds, auxiliary worksites or on-premise storage solutions, users are able to tailor the UDP 7000 to suit their specific needs.
Numerous recovery options also exist, thereby customizing the experience even further. The ability to recover data to destinations in the cloud, on-premises, in remote offices or to virtual machines adds a whole new level of data freedom, with complementary options that include bare metal recovery and granular application recovery.
Mike Crest, chief executive officer with Arcserve, spoke about the necessity of maintaining a comprehensive data protection plan today. He was quoted as saying: “Data protection is critical for businesses of any size, and more importantly we believe that the focus should not be placed on backp but rather on recovery.” He continued by saying: “One trend we’re seeing among our partners, who often act as the IT department for their SMB customers, is that they become the data protection provider – essentially MSPs. We’ve seen a lot of success with UDP in this context, and we believe that our new appliance will be a great way to expand this business further, and provide many end users with a hardened data protection strategy.”
