Although Avnet has been working with Veeam in their European markets since 2009, as well as Australian and Indonesian markets since 2012, they’re only now introducing the functionality to their customers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Not only will this strengthen the global relationship between Avnet and Veeam, but it will also expand on Avnet’s total service offerings within North America.
Sergio Farache, senior vice president with Avnet’s Solutions and Strategy group, explained how the addition of Veeam will benefit his company’s customers. He was quoted as saying: “The addition of Veeam Software to Avnet’s portfolio in the U.S. and Canada will enable our partners to offer their customers a deeper level of protection and availability in the critical areas of backup and recovery. Avnet’s expanded relationship with Veeam significantly enhances our converged infrastructure capabilities. Our partners will be able to capitalize on Avnet’s unique position as a distributor of Cisco, HP, NetApp and VMware, to develop Cisco UCS®, FlexPod and Vblock – the converged infrastructure solutions that include Veeam’s complementary software technology.”
Eric Berry, vice president of new partner acquisition with Avnet, reinforced Farahe’s comments by adding: “Avnet looks forward to offering the Veeam portfolio of premium services to our partners. Veeam’s availability solutions are an ideal complement to Avnet’s strategy of enabling our partners to strategically grow their businesses in the channel and transform technology into business solutions for customers around the world.
Direct Benefits
There are a number of direct benefits associated with the implementation of Veeam solutions. This includes high-speed recovery via highly aggressive recovery time objectives (RTOs), minimization and, in some cases, complete avoidance of data loss through the use of low recovery point objectives (RPOs) and off-premises data security, verified protection of automatic backup and disaster recovery testing protocol, leveraged data to aide in the deployment of applications and complete visibility of infrastructure. As such, it’s easy to see why some of Avnet’s North American customers are eager to begin using Veeam software.
Chris Moore, senior director of North American Channels with Veeam Software, spoke about the need for such functionality in the U.S. and Canada. He was quoted as saying: “Veeam and Avnet fully recognize that organizations must operate 24/7/365 in today’s new business era. To address this, Veeam has pioneered a new market of Availability for the Modern Data Center by helping organizations meet recovery time and point objectives (RTPO) of 15 minutes or less for all applications and data. Veeam Availability Suite, which includes Veeam Backup & Replication, leverages virtualization, storage, and cloud technologies that enable the modern data center to help organizations save time, mitigate risks, and dramatically reduce capital and operational costs.”
