You only really know the pain of data loss when you’ve suffered it. Data recovery is possible, but you shouldn’t rely on this when you’ve got the ability to backup. There are so many different programs out there that will help you manage your backups, it can be hard to know which one to go with. Let’s take a look at one of the latest, Bvckup 2, developed by the Swiss-based Pipemetrics SA.
Bvckup 2 is a light and speedy program that sets out with one core aim: provide A to B copy functionality. It allows you to backup in real time, either automatically or manually. It’s able to process large backups with ease and it also supports multi-core processing that is sensitive to the load of the CPU.
There are mainly two types of backup software. While the first is for specific data backups, the latter is for the entire system. Bvckup 2 falls into the former category, generally covering all of your personal data. If you need a comprehensive image of your system, this perhaps isn’t the best utility for you.
That doesn’t mean it’s to be dismissed, though. It is a superb way of creating mirror copies of particular data sets. Specify which data you want copied and where; the program will then handle that, creating a copy and ensuring it’s kept completely in sync. Any changes that you make to the source data will be instantly reflected in the copy. It’s precise and quick cloning and it does it extremely well.
Bvckup 2 uses delta copying, which means it scans the files for changes and skips over any unmodified parts. Disk writes can be expensive and taxing on the components, so it’s great that you don’t have to copy the entirety of files when just a small part has been changed – great for things like virtual disks or TrueCrypt volumes.
The interface is very clean and simple to use. It lends to the lightweight nature of the program that it doesn’t have any unnecessary excess. It presents what you need and nothing more. You can set up as many backups as you desire; within them, you can specify what to backup, when to do it, how to detect changes, how to copy the data, how to handle deleting, and much more.
There’s purposely no options for compressing or encrypting, so this isn’t a program to use if you need to secure your data or reduce its footprint. However, you can use device tracking so that the backup will only run when a specific device is connected.
Bvckup 2 is available for a two week unrestricted trial on Windows XP and above. If you want a personal license then it’ll cost a onetime fee of $19.95. If used professionally, the license costs $39.95. For more information on Bvckup 2, be sure to check out the {{https://www.bvckup2.com/|official website}}.
If this doesn’t sound like what you need, and you’re seeking more of a full system backup solution, check out alternatives like CrashPlan, SugarSync and EaseUS Todo Backup, all of which can help protect your system and provide disaster recovery.
