Motorola Embraces Azure Government Cloud

The successor of the original Motorola, Inc., Motorola solutions represents the latest iteration of a brand that has been around since the 1920s. They've taken many different turns and undergone several transformations over the years – and they've recently focused many of their efforts toward IT development within the public safety sector.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that they've chosen the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud to provide direct support to their proprietary CommandCentral platform. Not only is the Microsoft-backed cloud widely popular throughout nearly every industry, but the added security of its Government Cloud service provides the data security needed in the 21st century.

Andrew Sinclair, general manager and corporate vice president of Motorola Solution's Software Enterprise division spoke optimistically about the move by stating: "Cloud computing is used by government agencies around the world, and we are excited to bring the benefits of cloud to our public safety customers. By working with Microsoft, we have the right partner to enhance our customers’ current on-premises systems as we continue to develop next-generation software and capabilities for them, in the cloud."

What is Motorola CommandCentral?

Motorola further benefits from the hybrid structure of the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud. Combining both on-premises and cloud-based services, the platform lets Motorola retain the versatile functionality seen in solutions like CommandCentral.

Specifically, Motorola's CommandCentral suite consists of three different apps that support the public safety sector, including:

- CommandCentral Vault: Streamlines digital evidence collection and management.

- CommandCentral Analytics: Lets IT and law enforcement officials perform in-depth analyses during cases and investigations.

- CommandCentral Aware: Collates and synchronizes several different data streams into a centralized database meant to strengthen situational awareness and bolster incident response times.

As you can see, the Motorola CommandCentral suite takes a multipronged approach to data security and protection in the modern age. While they offer hybrid cloud deployment for customers of their own, the new venture with Microsoft and the Azure cloud allows them to provide even greater service and support in the years to come.

What is the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud?

You're probably already familiar with Microsoft Azure. As one of the most popular cloud architectures in existence today, it's used by millions of customers all around the globe. While the basic Azure service provides more than enough functionality and security for home or enterprise users, organizations that work with confidential or highly sensitive information require a little more protection from outside threats.

This is where the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud comes in. Not only does it provide enhanced data security, but it also ensures compliance with common industry and organizational standards.

Tom Keane, corporate vice president with Azure Global and Microsoft, described the platform by saying: "Microsoft Azure Government provides world-class security, protection and compliance on a dedicated, government-only cloud environment."
