Verint and EMC Achieve Interoperability Meant to Bolster Backup and Archival Solutions

EMC's Elastic Cloud Storage has been gaining popularity amongst enterprise IT officials as of late, and for good reason. A software-defined object storage platform that features cloud scalability, low costs and accessibility, EMC's Elastic Cloud Storage, or ECS, is quickly becoming the industry standard. To this extent, it should come as no surprise that Verint Systems and their Workforce Optimization suite has recently attained interoperability with EMC's ECS platform.

Verint Workforce Optimization, or WFO, falls under Verint's Customer Engagement Optimization umbrella of services and solutions. The recent move is expected to bolster efforts in regulatory compliance and governance on behalf of their customers. Furthermore, interoperability between WFO and ECS is also expected to bolster Verint's efforts toward complete optimization of the media and metadata archival process.

Oren Stern, senior vice president of product strategy with Verint Enterprise Intelligence Solutions, spoke about the need for interoperability with ECS. He was quoted as saying: "Completing interoperability with EMC’s Elastic Cloud Storage solution enables our customers to benefit from a reliable solution for archiving media and metadata. EMC is one of the world’s most successful storage and data management companies, making it an ideal fit for our customers."

Manuvir Das, senior vice president of the advanced software division as well as the emerging technology with EMC, complemented Stern's sentiments by saying: "In today’s third-platform world, unstructured data is taking over, meaning that customers need solutions not only to wrangle, but also to optimize their object data. The interoperability of EMC Elastic Cloud Storage with Verint Workforce Optimization will help us further extend our reach globally and provide more organizations with industry-leading technologies and streamlined solutions."

What is the Elastic Cloud?

Generally speaking, the concept of an elastic cloud can be applied to nearly all of the cloud computing environments that are in use today. The term itself really just refers to a cloud-based service that is able to scale storage capacity based on the wishes and needs of the their individual customers. However, there are a number of things that make EMC's Elastic Cloud Storage platform a little bit different than the others.

For starters, EMC's ECS was developed specifically with the Internet of Things in mind. As such, the platform provides end-to-end visibility of system resources and performance. This lets users monitor information such as the percentage of total capacity used, replication information, data recovery activities and a number of other valuable performance metrics.

The EMC ECS platform also provides user simplicity, cloud scalability, accessibility and faster app development. Finally, the turnkey cloud framework offers muti-tenancy support and self-service access on behalf users.

Other examples of current cloud frameworks that could be considered elastic include Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, VMware, OpenStack and more.
